Wirt County home destroyed by fire

ELIZABETH — A Wirt County home was destroyed Tuesday by a blaze that remains under investigation. The fire occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a residence in Little Kanawha Estates off Newark Road. The residence is owned by Hope Wyman. No one was home when the fire occurred. No one was injured. Chief Douglas Hill, Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department, said heavy smoke was coming from the residence when crews arrived on scene. “It was a fire in the attic. Heavy smoke," Hill said. The way the home was constructed hampered firefighting efforts. “It was actually a mobile home that had been built around, added onto. They actually built clear around it. It makes it a lot more difficult to fight the fire, to get to it," Hill said. Officials were on scene extinguishing hot spots until about 7 p.m., Hill said.

Timeshares an Attractive Alternative to Second Home Ownership

As an affordable alternative to second home ownership, timeshare ownership has increased in popularity among 'would-be' second home investors.

Lake Tahoe, NV (PRWEB) March 24, 2008 -- Karen Phelan, Broker/Owner of Preferred Timeshare Resales based out of Lake Tahoe, has observed a new breed of timeshare buyers enter the market over recent months. Phelan said, "The buyers we're starting to see more of are those who never considered timeshare ownership until now. Even in signs of today's uncertain residential real estate market, many still dream of owning a vacation home in their favorite vacation destination. With timeshares, people are discovering their dream is still well within reach." Why? Many 'would-be' vacation home buyers are discovering timeshares are an attractive alternative to owning a second home, based on economics and common sense:

Affordability: Would-be second home investors are instead purchasing timeshares at a fraction of what it would have cost to own a vacation home.

Bus Tours Show Properties in Foreclosure

(03-26) 12:43 PDT Orlando, Fla. (AP) --

The white bus rumbles into the quiet suburban neighborhood, heading toward a foreclosed home that sits empty. Neighbors, young and old, cock their heads in curiosity or point at the slow-moving coach.

Once the vehicle stops, about 20 potential buyers file out and become detectives, opening and closing cabinets and drawers, knocking on walls and asking about the price, the previous owners and what repairs may be needed.

Welcome to the Foreclosure Bus Tour, a six-hour expedition to show Orlando-area homes and educate potential buyers on the vagaries of snatching foreclosures in a state where the housing market has struggled over the past two years. Real estate agents have also organized tours in California, where the idea seems to have originated, and cities such as Phoenix, Detroit, Kansas City and Jacksonville.
